Damascenes

The Damascene is an ancient breed of pigeon, totally unchanged for thousands of years, they are thought to have originated in Turkey.

They have soft plumage which is silvery-white with two black bars on the wings.

The Damascene is a friendly bird which soon recognises their keeper and will often let itself be stroked or picked up without any fuss.

Damascenes make excellent parents and breed well during the year which seems unusual as they are not widely available. they are clean in the nestbox but their boxes should still be cleaned between rounds.

Food, water, mineral and grit requirements are the same as for Modenas.
