Welcome to my Site
I started keeping aviary birds in 2002 when I was given a whole collection of various birds, mainly parrakeets, finches and softbills. I had these birds for about 18 months before I realised there was a bird club within walking distance of where I living at the time. I promptly joined and was introduced to lots of different guest speakers and a wide variety of birds.
I tried breeding exhibition budgies, canaries and different finches and waxbills but found there was a lot more to it than putting a cock and hen together and hoping for the best. I did manage to breed lots of chicks but nothing with quality for the show bench.
In 2005 our club had a guest speaker named John Ross. He brought with him a selection of his fancy pigeons, something I had never seen before, but I knew these were the birds I wanted to keep as soon as I saw them.
Early in 2007 I moved house and had the room to start keeping pigeons, I phoned John to see if he had a pair of Modenas for sale. I visited him about a week later and ended up coming home with seven birds.
